Students on Sabira Island Learn About Turtle Conservation

A total of 100 students from SDN Pulau Harapan 02 and SMPN Satu Atap 02 Pulau Sabira, Pulau Harapan Urban Village, Seribu Utara Islands participated in turtle conservation education through an activity entitled "From Sabira for Turtles: Education, Conservation, Action" at the Pulau Sabira Halfway House.

Representative of Karang Taruna of Harapan Island Urban Village, Agung said, the activity that took place at Sabira Island Shelter is part of the turtle conservation program supported by the Pertamina PHE OSES 2026 corporate social responsibility (CSR) program involving six volunteers.

Agung explained that student involvement in conservation activities is a crucial step in fostering environmental awareness from an early age. He hopes the knowledge gained can be applied in everyday life.
"We want children to gain new knowledge and grow to be part of the effort to protect turtles and the marine environment on Sabira Island," he explained.
The Principal of SDN Pulau Harapan 02 and also the Principal of SMPN Satu Atap 02 Pulau Sabira, Ispianah, appreciated the activity because conservation education provided learning experiences outside the classroom while introducing the importance of preserving the environment that is close to the students' lives.
"This activity is beneficial because students gain knowledge about turtles and the importance of protecting the environment. We hope their concern for marine sustainability will increase," he hoped.
